I haven't seen a lot of recs yet and since the fest fare has been so excellent so far, thought I'd throw a few out. These are my favorites so far, which is not to say that many of the other fics do not have merit. They do. Absolutely. But the fics and art below stood out to me as a reader and a Snarry lover, hitting my...uh...buttons.
The fest openers, In Time, Once Again and Unbuttoned are both fabulous. In Time, Once Again is a time travel fic immediately after the Battle of Hogwarts, and while time travel fics usually make me chase my own tail, lost in the paradoxes, I was able to suspend disbelief on this one and enjoy the lyrical prose and the coming together of Harry and Severus in two (or was it three?) different timelines on very different levels. It wrapped up with a lovely ending as well.
The art, Unbuttoned, a multi-panel storyboard, is one of the most lovely pieces I've seen from this anonymous artist (or someone who has copied her style perfectly!). It's Snarry at its organic core, and if you don't love her Harry and Severus in the last panel, you haven't been living Snarry long enough.
I'll rec two more fics (through Sunday, May 13th--I'm not caught up with this week yet).
In Perpetuity is a fic I shouldn't have liked, given the subject matter. The warning points out "consensual BDSM" but the story has a melancholic, lyrical quality I loved, and a Harry who pushed Severus to his limits, but not the way you're thinking. The ending of this story was what really got me, however, and many writers out there will, I am sure, understand why I say that.
Finally, go read Speaking in Tongues. It's a fairly quick read at just under 8,000 words but it's so layered, so intense, and features such a real Harry and a wounded Severus, both trying to find footing in life after Voldemort. The story is about the loss of one language and the learning of another, and I hope you'll find the author's forages into the intricacies of language as fulfilling and poignant as did I.

In June of 2009, Son 1 moved to Portland. In August of that same year, Son 2 moved away to attend college.
They've been back from time to time, Son 2 for the first summer, then for holidays and visits since. With one son in the lovely Pacific Northwest and the other in Alaska, this traveling mom had excellent vacation destinations.
Son 1 is about to move home from Japan, where he's been since last summer. Son 2 is coming home for a month-long visit and they're overlapping for ten days.
Son 1 may move in with me for a while - job and grad school hunting. He's just broken up with his girlfriend so plans have changed.
Oh - did I forget to mention that high school girlfriend of Son 2 is still living with me? (I do not foresee the recently-broken-up-with girlfriend joining us here but with my kids, who knows? During Son #2's visit, another former girlfriend is coming from Chicago for three days and staying here too.)
WTF?
I am sure you are thinking - hello??? And why are you allowing this to happen right under your nose? It's YOUR house, after all, right?
Sigh. I'm a wimp and I miss my kids. (Though I usually am tired of Son 2's constant chatter by the time we pull in the driveway after driving home from the airport. And yes, he's bringing his new tattoo and piercing with him.)
If my usually sunny and cheery fic suddenly changes - perhaps with Harry turning his grown children into potions ingredients - please come check on me.
Arrival date is June 3.

Because I haven't heard screaming yet, I think I did this right.
I'm friend-locking NC-17 posts--and also posting the entire story (not just a link to my journal) on Snape_Potter on IJ and LJ.
Which means to read a suitesamba NC-17 post you need to be on my friends list or join the Snape_Potter comm.
And by the way, I'm pushing the last two "Four Words" stories out to AO3 this afternoon, so you can bypass the journals and read them there as well. Only the last one is NC-17.
Off to an early-Monday meeting but must...have...coffee...first...

Well, it's that time again. Every six years, on or around my birthday, it's off to the DMV to renew the driver's license. So I studied up on my road signs, covered that pesky zit with some extra-strength foundation, dug out my birth certificate and a utility bill with my name and address on it (Missouri...what can I say?) and headed on over.
Damn! Can't believe how clear those letters on the eye test are when you're wearing bifocals!
So yes, I now have that pesky restriction on my driver's license that requires glasses or contacts. The DMV employee was nice enough to let me remove my glasses for the photo, but then she said "Smile" and I did--forgetting about my braces.
Hell, I'm getting them off this year but will be forced to look at that photo for another six.
"They make you look younger," she said.
"They make me look stupid," I returned.
"No, really." Peppy smile.
"Good, because I'm about to turn 50," I groused.
She smiled but she couldn't hide the pity. Damn bitch. I bet she wasn't a day over 42.
I came home and cried on the dog. She was very little help. After all, she's 15. I can just hear her thoughts. "Braces? Big deal. At least you can make it to the bathroom without leaving a trail of little poop pieces behind you as you go."
FML. :)

In an interesting and innocent misstep on my part, I decided to friend-lock any new journal posts if they contained NC-17 material. I post on my journal and post links on relevant comm sites, like Snape_Potter. I did this on a day when both the mods for Snape_Potter were indisposed. This was not planned. Really.
So...I realized after getting a couple comments that a lot of people who were not on my flist were reading my posts. Then I realized, through a comment from one of the Snape_Potter mods, that I can't link to a locked entry. OK. I removed the link to the locked entry and posted one to the story on A03 where I cross-post. Ultimately, I just posted the story on Snape_Potter too. i didn't mean to make the sick/indisposed mods deal with upset people who were not getting their porn.
What is interesting is that my hits to the story on AO3 jumped by more than 250 in a day. For reference, "Harry and the Potter" has about 1000 hits on AO3 and "The Second Time Around" currently has 263, just a few more than "Four Little Words" (after being posted there for six weeks).
The lesson is that a lot more people hit these journals than I ever thought. Especially Snape_Potter. So...why aren't we using it as a vehicle to take over the world???
Apologies to the Snape_Potter mods for having to deal with my major fumble.

My friends are falling like flies. Since many of us graduated from high school in 1980, we're turning 50 this year...or last year. And last night 10 of us got together to celebrate a girlfriend's 50th.
I'm next. *shudders*
Conversations ranged from hot flashes to parents' Medicare and dementia to parents' funerals (yeah, really) to kids who won't leave home to colonoscopies (traditional vs. swallowing the little camera pill) to the birthday girl's new house with the "wheel in your wheelchair" shower (and no, she's not currently disabled in any way).
Can you spell "d-e-p-r-e-s-s-i-n-g?"
The hostess did pass out reading glasses to each guest. I provided entertainment in the form of a light-up Hula Hoop and a Cardinals Hat (go STL!) topped with gray hair. Unfortunately, no one could actually keep the Hula Hoop going for more than a couple revolutions. Of course, the attempts to do so were most entertaining.
Note to self: "Poise" pads should be passed out to 49-year-old guests watching other guests try to Hula Hoop.
Back to the "grind" today. It's a RL work weekend...

If you wondered why the story Roo commissioned for Veridari has her own artwork in it...
In short, Roo gave me a prompt (the summary of the story I wrote for Veridari that she posted last night) and told me she had art commissioned for the story too. She described the artwork to me, wanted the story to end up with Harry on Severus' desk with Severus ravishing him.
I was nearly finished with the story when Veridari let me preview some art she was working on. "Hmmm," I thought. "That looks...familiar..."
Yep, Roo had Veridari doing art for her OWN SURPRISE STORY! AND gifting the art to some others that had helped out on the Revive Severus fest.
She's tricky like that...

So...I'm engaged in my Friday night ritual...just me (yea!) in the house, writing and watching "junk" TV. Tonight it's TLC and the wedding shows. So, I look up to see "Say Yes to the Dress-Atlanta" and an episode about a bride whose fiance has just been diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease. They mention the fiance's name. I stop writing and stare at the TV. I recognize the name. I wait for the photo.
I know him--professionally. A former salesman for a company we teamed with for a while. I had lunch with him in Atlanta a couple years ago.
Damn that's weird. And sad...tragic.
A perfect night to continue writing this angst...
